So you fancy joining The Choir Worstead?
It couldn’t be simpler – you just turn up at a rehearsal at 7.30pm at Dilham Village Hall on a Thursday and start! We usually have some spare music but it may be best to just gives us a call on 07710 285502 or email norfolkymt2024@gmail.com to let us know so we can make sure a pad of music is available. You will not be asked to audition and will never be asked to sing a solo – unless you really want to! You can decide where you sit and what voice part to sing, changing if you feel a part is not right for you.

The first two sessions are free so you can decide whether to carry on or not. If you do, you can take the music home. There may be a small charge. For the current rehearsals it’s £8 for the books we have had to buy – but you get to keep them. Once you have settled in we ask a monthly charge of £20 to help pay for the pianist, rehearsal room, conductor and hire of music.
Rehearsals are not just a jolly sing-a-long. We will tackle some difficult pieces and take time going over small sections and learning them properly.
We sing a range of styles and genres. Last year our concert focused on English and American 20th century music, Gerald Finzi, Aaron Copland, Elgar and Bob Chilcott. This year we gave a concert of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man and John Rutter’s Free the Spirit. We also give Christmas concerts and last year’s was mainly John Rutter’s arrangements of carols telling the nativity story. This year is a little more secular with some festive The King’s Singers music and an arrangement of Whistle Down the Wind by Richard Taylor.
If you are still undecided – we also have tea and cakes at rehearsals.
I look forward to seeing you.
Adrian Connell
